Blog 4- Software/Hardware used in performance analysis

What is hardware? What is software?

(GCFLearn.org, 2018)

Hardware

The following are some examples of hardware used with performance analysis:-

  • Laptops
  • GPS
  • Video cameras
  • Smart watches
  • Drones
  • Heart monitors
  • Mobile phones
  • Speed gun
  • SD card
  • Television/Monitor
  • Inertial sensor
Software

The following are some examples of software used with performance analysis:-
  • NacSport
  • Microsoft
  • CoachesEye
  • Dartfish
  • Opta
  • SportsZone
  • Hudl
  • Prozone
  • Playerdata
  • Scout7
  • Klipdraw
There can be a great difference in what the different software can do, even when they are marketed as doing the same job. For example, if we look at video software, most will have frame by frame viewing or slow motion but the more advanced will also have features such as the integration of external data such as force or heart rate. (Glaeser, 2017)
