The role of an analyst

In their 2013 research into the roles performance analysts play in elite football clubs and how the roles differ within professional and academy settings, Wright et al. suggest that an analyst fulfils many roles. These can be seen in Figure 1.
This was based on a questionnaire consisting of 32 questions which was completed by 48 coaches, from various backgrounds and with various levels of experience and qualifications.
